For those who have followed my blog over the years, you’re aware that my focus has predominantly been on business, government contracting, and general life musings. However, 2023 marked a pivotal ‘Great Reset’ in my life – an unexpected yet essential change. My husband and I were blessed with a miraculous gift from above: a beautiful baby boy. Our path to parenthood was nothing short of a movie script. Unforeseen and extraordinary, I found myself spending 123 days in the NICU after an early water break at five months. Our son, a true miracle, embodies joy, health, and strength – a living testament to God’s grace.

This experience was an eye-opener in many ways. It made me realize the futility of meticulously planning every aspect of life. No matter how far ahead we plan, life has its own, often surprising, plans. This journey in 2023 shifted my perspective on various aspects of life. The question of whether to continue as a business owner became secondary. What emerged as my true desire was to excel in the roles that matter the most – being a loving wife and a devoted mother. Thus, a significant ‘Great Reset’ has occurred, signaling a change in my priorities and my approach to life.

This ‘Great Reset’ wasn’t just a shift in daily routines; it was a profound awakening. Those 123 days in the NICU, filled with uncertainty and hope, taught me about resilience in ways no business challenge ever could. Each beep of the monitors, every small progress he made, was a lesson in patience and faith.

In the world of business and government contracting, success is often measured in tangible outcomes – profits, deals secured, or milestones achieved. But in those quiet moments by my son’s side, success took on a new meaning. It was in his grip around my finger, the first time he opened his eyes, the moments he defied every odd. Success was no longer about what I could achieve but what we, as a family, were overcoming together.

The reset also brought clarity to the value of time. Time, I realized, is not just a resource to be managed but a gift to be cherished. Being a business owner, I was accustomed to planning and controlling my time down to the last second. Yet, in the grand scheme of things, these meticulously laid plans paled in comparison to the unplanned moments that now filled my life with joy and purpose.

With this new perspective, my goals and aspirations have transformed. Yes, I still harbor ambitions and dreams, but they’re now interwoven with a deeper understanding of what truly matters. Being a good wife and mother doesn’t mean putting my ambitions aside; it means redefining them in a way that includes this new, richer understanding of life.

This doesn’t mean I am stepping away from my career. On the contrary, I believe this experience has equipped me to approach my professional life with greater empathy, patience, and a clearer understanding of my priorities. The ‘Great Reset’ has not diminished my passion for business and government contracting; instead, it has enriched it, adding a new layer of purpose to my work.

As I look to the future, I am excited about this new chapter. I see a world of possibilities where my professional and personal lives coexist, each enriching the other. This journey has taught me that the unexpected can be daunting, but it can also open doors to paths we never imagined walking.
